RSPB Saltholme Visit

I went to RSPB Saltholme on Monday 20th June and had a great day. As I left the car park and walked to the visitors' centre I noticed a 6-spotted Burnet Moth feeding on the thistles.

Thirty-five species were seen including Little Gull (1st summer), Sandwich Tern and Sand Martin which I needed for my year list.

It is good to see the birds returning to our garden in numbers. Sadly we didn't have any birds breeding in our garden. However, adults have continued to visit the feeders for an easy meal whilst looking for live food for young birds.

Coxcomb Prominent

Another new moth for me this morning. It is a Coxcomb Prominent (2008) and it was resting up high on a wall.
