A butterfly afternoon at Leighton Moss

On 2nd September the late afternoon sunshine was just perfect for the butterflies enjoying the Buddleia at Leighton Moss.

As we walked down the path a Nuthatch dropped in for a seed.

The feeders were quieter during the breeding season and summer months. However there were daily sightings of butterflies in the garden. The week starting 13th August was the first to record no visits from House Sparrows.

Whilst walking to the North Gare Breakwater I counted butterflies and also noticed this spectacular moth. This was my first sightings of a Archer's Dart and I couldn't believe my eyes!
