Gatekeeper Butterflies at Arnside Knott

On 5th August, we did a Big Butterfly Count at Arnside Knott in Cumbria. This is a nationwide survey in the UK carried out between 14th July and 6th August. Basically you spend 15 minutes sitting recording Butterflies and day-flying Moths at a location of your choice and then you submit your results.

In 2017, 60,000 people took part submitting 62,500 counts.

In the sunshine we recorded Gatekeeper butterflies, Small Skipper and Cinnabar moth larvae.
